Greyston Bakery partnered with Ben & Jerry’s in 1987 to create its Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream. Today, we produce 7 million pounds of brownies annually as the company’s exclusive global supplier. Our partnership has also included various initiatives such as employee swaps and the Bakery Community Action Team. Greyston was named as a Key Global Supplier in parent company Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan.
Greyston and Unilever are collaborating to form The Center for Open Hiring at Greyston Business Advisory Council, which is chartered with leading the movement toward large-scale social change through the disruption of human capital management practices. The Council will build a coalition of like-minded organizations to change the way the world approaches hiring.
Greyston and REDF are partnering to build the evidence base for Open Hiring and a set of best practices so that the model can improve and scale to create more opportunity for people who are excluded from the workforce.
Greyston’s partnership with Start Foundation and its impact investment will allow The Center for Open Hiring at Greyston in the Netherlands to deliver job opportunities, community programs, and a sense of hope and possibility to under-served communities in Amsterdam and throughout the Netherlands.
Greyston and Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) are leveraging the expertise of both organizations to support Greyston Bakery staff to be successful on the job and to further inform the Open Hiring Model. The WJCS Care Coordinator, who works on-site at the Bakery, supports bakers and apprentices and connects them to critical resources so they can achieve success both at work, home, and in the community.

Greyston and My Brother’s Keeper Yonkers — an initiative addressing persistent opportunity gaps facing boys and young men of color — are partnering to build ways to drive social inclusion through nonprofit partnership and local business innovation and entrepreneurship. Through this partnership, Greyston will promote a multi-generational approach towards meeting the educational milestones of Yonkers children, reducing violence, and improving life outcomes for Greyston Bakers, community members in southwest Yonkers, and their children.
