ABOUT GREYSTON BAKERY
We bake Awesomely Good brownies and blondies at our mission-driven bakery. You can buy them on our website GreystonBakery.com or in Whole Foods, CAVA, and other retailers and restaurants. You can also enjoy our brownies in Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream and other flavors!
Our bakery began in 1982 when our founder, Zen Buddhist Bernie Glassman, built Greyston Bakery to employ individuals who faced barriers to meaningful employment. The hiring process was simple, accept anyone with a will to work, a process we now call Open Hiring. That means no interviews, no background checks, and no resumes are required to get a job. Recognizing that employment is just the first step toward self-sufficiency, Greyston quickly expanded into several social and community services areas.
GREYSTON FOUNDATION
After deep consideration, the Greyston Foundation has determined to scale back its operations to its original mission of focusing on providing employment opportunities for the Yonkers community. All Foundation programs have been paused at this time while we determine how best to target our overall resources going forward to provide greater impact and scale for our social and economic mission, consistent with our 42-year history of supporting the City of Yonkers. Please contact us at info@greyston.org with any questions.
Greyston Bakery will not be affected by this decision, and will continue to sustain and promote its Open Hiring model. For Bakery information and ordering, please visit GreystonBakery.com,

Our Organizational Structure
For 40 years, Greyston has changed lives by unlocking the power of human potential through inclusive employment, one person at a time. It all started in 1982, in a small bakery in Yonkers, NY where founder Bernie Glassman had the radical idea of giving people a chance to work, no questions asked.
Since 1992, these endeavors have been united under the umbrella of the Greyston Foundation Inc., a 501(c)3 charitable organization founded as a home for our community development, job training, and other programs working to create a more inclusive economy. Over the decades, the Foundation’s work has been carried out through a network of related organizations, both nonprofit and for-profit, that are wholly owned by the Foundation, including the brownie operation that started it all – the celebrated Greyston Bakery, Inc.
